(I) Gomoku Teacher Training
Gomoku, as an intellectual sport, has become an official competition event in international events such as the World Mind Sports Games and the Mind Sports Olympiad, and is actively seeking wider international recognition. Our school, St. Timothy's Primary School, has always valued the development of intellectual sports and firmly believes that Gomoku not only cultivates students' thinking abilities but is also an excellent vehicle for promoting Chinese culture.
On this day, our school invited Edward Chan, President of the Hong Kong Gomoku Association, to personally conduct teacher training, leading the teacher team to understand the rules, strategies, and teaching methods of Gomoku. President Edward explained the historical and cultural significance of Gomoku in a clear and concise manner, and how to promote this intellectual sport on campus. Teachers experienced the fun of Gomoku through practical games, mastered basic skills, and prepared for promoting Gomoku activities and competitions in the school in the future. This training not only enhanced the teachers' professional knowledge but also helped the team build consensus, working together to bring this intellectual sport, which combines thinking skills with Chinese culture, into the school. (II) Principal Zhu's Sharing on Positive Education
Our school invited Principal Zhu Guoqiang from Ling Ying School to share his successful experience in implementing positive education with the teaching team. Principal Zhu's sincere and moving testimony helped teachers truly understand the core concepts of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Coaching, and positive education. He shared his journey leading the school for over ten years, conveying an important message to teachers through real changes and results: positive education works! Principal Zhu's sharing was inspiring, deeply moving the teachers and strengthening their confidence in promoting a positive culture on campus.
(III) How to Build a Positive Campus Culture
Mr. Zhong Mingchong, founder of the Positive Education Institute, visited the school for the second time this academic year, leading the teaching team to gain a deeper understanding of positive education. The most exciting part of this workshop was teaching teachers to recognize their own "archetypes," understanding their personality traits and inner drives, and mastering how to use Coaching techniques to guide student growth. Mr. Zhong used lively and engaging interactive activities to help teachers learn through experience, which not only deepened their understanding of positive education but also helped them master practical tutoring skills, injecting new momentum into building a positive campus culture.
