Chinese Language Department Development Exchange – Learning from the Professional, Progressing Together
To strengthen the teaching development and professional exchange of the Chinese language department at our school, we invited Ms. Chen Yuqun, Head of the Chinese Language Department, and Mr. Wu Shanhui, a teacher from Caritas Yuen Long Chan Chun Ha Secondary School, to our school to share their reform experience and professional insights with our Chinese language teachers.
During the sharing session, Ms. Chen detailed her experience as Head of the Chinese Language Department and, using the "coaching model" as the core concept, explained the key to leading the Chinese language team—not one-way guidance, but rather a mentoring, collaborative, and peer-to-peer approach to promote mutual learning and encouragement among teachers, jointly improving teaching effectiveness, and ensuring students benefit from the reform. Mr. Wu also shared specific practices in curriculum design, teaching strategies, and assessment arrangements, showcasing the challenges and achievements of the reform process.
During the exchange session, our Chinese language teachers engaged in in-depth discussions with the two teachers regarding the difficulties encountered in daily teaching and students' exam preparation. The insights gained from this exchange led the teachers to reflect more deeply on curriculum planning and teaching innovation. This professional exchange not only deepened the professional connections among teachers but also injected new impetus into the future development of the Chinese Department at our school. Taking advantage of this opportunity for mutual learning, the Chinese Department team will continue to uphold the spirit of "professional growth and student-centered approach," continuously optimizing curriculum design and teaching strategies to cultivate students' language skills and creative thinking.
