Parent-Teacher Meeting: AI-Assisted Self-Learning and Gomoku (Five in a Row)

We often hear parents complain that they don't know how to help their children review at home. Our school has always valued academic development, focusing on building a solid foundation for students' learning, and even more importantly, hoping that children can master learning methods and improve their self-learning abilities.

In view of this, our school specially invited Principal Yi from Methodist Secondary School (English-speaking secondary school) and Vice Principal Li, a leading teacher from the Education Bureau, to give lectures at the school, sharing with parents how to effectively use AI tools to assist learning and improve review and dictation efficiency. Principal Yi analyzed how to cultivate students' self-learning habits in primary school from a secondary school perspective to prepare them for secondary school; Vice Principal Li, drawing on her rich teaching experience, demonstrated how to use AI to assist in memorizing texts and reviewing dictation, and introduced several practical online learning resources, enabling parents to master specific guidance methods. The two speakers' insightful and easy-to-understand sharing gave parents a fresh perspective, and many expressed that they had gained a new understanding of how to assist their children's learning.

In addition, Edward Chan, President of the Hong Kong Gomoku Association, was invited to introduce the benefits of Gomoku as an intellectual sport to parents. President Chan explained how Gomoku can cultivate students' logical thinking, concentration, and resilience, and demonstrated simple parent-child game techniques on the spot, encouraging parents and children to cultivate teamwork through playing Go at home, while also passing on Chinese culture. Parents experienced the fun of Gomoku in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and gained a better understanding of the positive impact of this intellectual sport on children's development.
