According to the Chinese Language Curriculum Guide (2023) formulated by the Education Bureau, the objectives are to:

   1.Cultivate reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking skills, enhance communication, and stimulate creativity; develop the interest, habits, and ability for self-directed language learning, laying a foundation for lifelong learning;

   2.Cultivate the ability to appreciate literary works and aesthetic taste, mold temperament, and nurture moral character and emotional development;

   3.Enhance cultural literacy; strengthen the sense of responsibility towards the family, the country, and the world;

   4.Understand personal interests and strengths in order to plan for future learning, life, and work;

   5.Foster an eager-to-learn, proactive attitude and positive values; broaden international perspectives.
