Features of Our School's Chinese Language Curriculum
Features of Our School's Chinese Language Curriculum
In addition to the established framework set by the Education Bureau, our school has developed school-based teaching materials, which include:
1.Classical Chinese Poetry and Prose Materials (Primary 1 to Primary 6): Designed to enhance students' understanding of classical poetry, prose, and Chinese culture.
2."Learning Treasure Troves" (Primary 1 to Primary 2, and across all levels): Built upon the foundational curriculum with further extensions. These materials feature challenging questions and incorporate twelve core values, allowing students to deepen their learning while enhancing their problem-solving skills.
3.Process Writing Assignments / Distinctive Writing Worksheets: Utilizing a "small-steps" approach to guide students through the writing process step by step, thereby strengthening their writing abilities.
Featured Assignments (Speaking Tasks):
1.Our school encourages students to actively engage in public speaking and self-expression. Therefore, students are encouraged to record short videos via Padlet as speaking assignments. This allows them to share their personal experiences and feelings, thereby strengthening their speaking and presentation skills.
Our Chinese Language Teaching Modes:
1.Our school emphasizes "biliterate and trilingual" development. To broaden students' language environments, Primary 1 to Primary 3 offer both "Teaching Chinese in Putonghua" and "Teaching Chinese in Cantonese" classes. Primary 4 to Primary 6 classes are taught in Cantonese.
2.To ensure Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students receive better care and support in Chinese lessons, our school implements pull-out teaching programs. We also design appropriate teaching materials and provide targeted guidance tailored specifically for NCS students.
Elite / Remedial Programmes:
The Chinese Language department caters to learner diversity, enabling students of different abilities to develop their full potential. Therefore, we provide tiered assignments for dictation and writing. Furthermore, students with outstanding performance in Chinese are selected for elite enrichment programmes, while remedial classes are arranged for students who require extra academic support, effectively addressing the diverse learning needs of all students.
